Fe2O3 Scouting App ("the app") is a free scouting tool for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams, built and maintained by members of FTC team Fe2O3. This policy explains what information the app collects and how it's used.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and a display name you choose, via Google Sign-In or email/password (through Firebase Authentication).
- Team information: the teams you join or create, your role/permissions on each team, and an optional per-team display name.
- Scouting data: pit and match scouting entries you or your teammates create, associated with the team and event they were recorded for.
- Google Sheets/Drive access (only if you use the "Export to Sheets" feature): with your explicit permission, the app creates and writes to spreadsheets in your own Google account to export your team's scouting data. The app only creates files it needs for this purpose and does not read, browse, or access any other files in your Google Drive.
How we use it
Your information is used only to operate the app: authenticating you, organizing scouting data by team, and displaying it to your teammates. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see your data
Scouting data and display names are visible to other members of the same team, based on the app's permission system. Your email address is visible only to team members with the appropriate permission. We do not share your data with anyone outside your team, except the third-party services below, as needed to run the app.
Third-party services we use
- Google Firebase (authentication and data storage)
- Google Sheets/Drive API (only when you use the export feature, and only with your explicit permission)
- FIRST FTC Events API and FTCScout (public competition data — team lists, event schedules, and match results; no personal account data is sent to these services)
Data deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which removes your account and anonymizes your scouting contributions. If you have questions about your data, contact us at [support email — TODO: fill in].
Children's privacy
FTC is a program for students, most of whom are teenagers. We collect only what's needed to operate the app (described above) and do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
